December 2020 Newsletter

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

It is easy to turn a blind eye to the many issues those around us face in our society. It is easy to continue to stay within our bubbles without expanding the horizon of our perspective. It is easy to remain inactive while members of the community face extraordinary hardships. Despite the ease of maintaining comfort through the method of apathy, we must come together to create positive change. To be idle is to be negligent; to be active is to be aware and forward-moving. We must hold ourselves and others accountable and join together to enact the changes that we wish to see.

Because of the many supporters of KS Foundation, in the month of December, we helped our communities by:

  • Providing meals at Hesed House

  • Arranging Christmas gift bags for the Hesed House family shelter

  • Collecting monetary donations through a Teklink fundraiser

  • Donating to Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry of Joliet and Lazarus House of St. Charles

  • Participating in the holiday donation drive of Bike Bald Group of Oswego

  • “Adopting” multiple families by helping them with groceries and other necessities

  • Assisting seniors with their needs, such as meals and groceries

  • Serving hot lunches and care bags for the COVID emergency unit staff of AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center of Joliet

With the year 2020 coming to an end, we must reflect on the unique and challenging year of 2020. Thanks to our incredible supporters, we were able to volunteer, donate, and impact those around us in a positive way. Through the many resources available to us, we were thankfully able to donate 50,000 meals. Regardless of the quantitative metrics, we all came together and supported our communities. We did not just donate; we made a difference. By helping our community members, we are able to fulfill our mission, and doing so brings a great smile to the KS Foundation team. We must continue to share smiles and change lives. In 2021, we look forward to your continued support, and we will strive to make a difference.
